Easter Fun

Max's first Easter egg hunt (I seriously struggle with what to capitalize...egg? hunt? both? just egg?)

On Sunday we enjoyed the Easter service at church. Our church started having Saturday Easter services last year, and I love Saturday services. We wish they would have them all the time. But I can't bring myself to go to Easter service on Saturday. I guess it's because it's not actually Easter and I like the feeling of waking up on Sunday and celebrating Jesus's resurrection in fellowship with other believers. So even though it's super crowded we'll probably always go on Sunday mornings.

 "A little help please?"

"That's better"

After church our families and some great friends came over for lunch. Max and Gisele hunted Easter eggs after lunch. Well, Gisele hunted and Max walked around the yard. It was great to spend the day with our families and friends who are like family. I hope we can make it a tradition.

Sweet Sixteen, Not So Sweet Elite Eight

We had a weekend full of basketball, with some Opening Day t-ball thrown into the middle.
We were so happy that Baylor made it to the Sweet 16 and even happier that they played in Houston. Thursday they had open practices at Reliant so we took Max and my mom and grandma to see it. It was fun because we got to sit really close to the court.

Jim Nance was at the practice

Friday night Baylor played St. Mary's and then Duke played Purdue. The BU game was great, and we stayed for about half of Duke-Purdue. We actually ended up sitting in a suite with tickets Matt got through work so that was pretty cool.

Saturday was Opening Day for Matt's nephew. He's been playing t-ball for a few seasons now and really loves it. It's always fun to go watch his games.

Sunday, back to Reliant for the Elite 8. We took Max this time and got to sit in the suite again. We gave our other tickets to some friends and all went together.

Unfortunately they didn't play as well as they had on Friday and just didn't have quite enough to beat Duke. We were definitely disappointed but so proud of the Baylor team and how far they've come. It was a fun weekend...and I just put in an application for Final Four tickets for next year.

UPDATE: The Baylor girls just advanced to the Final Four (by beating Duke)....so the next question is: Do we go to San Antonio??

Spring Break 2010

Spring Break was filled with excitement around here. Not really...Max and I didn't leave the house for 3 days straight (I think that's a record for us). I guess that's not completely true because we did go to the playground one day. The weather was beautiful. We got some work done in the yard and spent a lot of time playing outside. Max progressed from only wanting to walk around the patio to walking in the grass as long as he was holding a hand to being almost fearless. Unfortunately we have to watch out for pesky fire ants. We've been practicing with his Easter basket in preparation for upcoming Easter egg hunts. The two best parts of spring break were going to the livestock show with the cousins, aunt, and MawMaw and the beginning of March Madness. We watched a lot of basketball over the weekend. Thankfully Baylor scraped by and made it into the Sweet Sixteen, and we get to go see them play since they'll be in Houston!

Crazy Aunt Ellen Visits Texas

My sister, who wishes to be known as Crazy Aunt Ellen, came for a visit to see her nephew. We had a lot of fun hanging out, and she was glad to see Max. She planned her visit perfectly because we had already planned to go to Waco for a Baylor basketball game that weekend. We all wish she lived closer but hopefully we'll get to see her this summer.

And yes, our Bears did beat the Longhorns to sweep the season, making it 3 wins dating back to last season, and preparing for the 4th in a row in the Big 12 Tournament the next week. Sic 'Em Bears!

We thought the day would never come....

TEETH!! Max's two bottom teeth are finally coming in. Next time you see him, ask him to show you his teeth. He opens his mouth really big and says "aaahhh".

Checking out Daddy's teeth

Say "aaahhhhh"

There they are - can you see them?!

My Valentines

Not a great picture, but here are my two guys on our Valentine's Day (actually Valentine's Eve) date. We tried a new place (3 Olives in Katy). It was yummy and Max enjoyed sharing my fettucine. We finished with dessert and coffee at Sweet and Salty Bakery. I do love food....and coffee.
