Dads & Donuts

Matt went to school with Max this week for Dads & Donuts.

They ate donuts...

...and played...

...and the kids gave the dads cute picture frames!

Looks like a good time!

The Circle of Life

Well maybe not exactly "the circle of life" but we've been watching The Lion King (aka The Yion Moobie) a lot lately and I kind of feel like it describes my weekend.

Saturday we spent the day at my parents, watched a bad football game, and went to the wedding of a high school friend of mine. She's actually my sister's age and they were really good friends. Her family goes to the same church as mine and she has a brother who's a year younger than me so we've always known each other and had great times in youth group together. She was a beautiful bride and I'm glad we could go. Max was so good during the ceremony and we didn't stay too long at the reception but he was good there too.

Then Sunday I helped host a baby shower for one of my closest friends, Laura Lynn, with our friends Lindsay and Tara. Laura Lynn is having twins...eek!...two boys...in December.  She got some cute things and I'm so glad we could celebrate with her! Can't wait to meet those boys!!

Right after the shower I met Matt and Max for a birthday party. Max's friend Miles turned 2 last week and Jamie and Trish had a few people over to celebrate. Max is a little bit older than Miles, Stephen and Dylan, and then there are the two older sisters Lily and Gisele who are both 4. They all had a great time playing together. I can't believe the younger ones are all two or about to be two (of course I can't believe that Max will be 3 in a few months). At one point, Stephen said "baby" and Meredith, his mom, said "there are no babies here" and then we all kind of looked at each other like, what happened to the babies?! I didn't take any pictures while we were there unfortunately.

So a wedding, baby shower, and birthday party in 2 days - that about covers all of life's events. It was a busy weekend but so full of celebration. Two more baby showers next weekend and then maybe I'm done for a while! Why does everybody get pregnant at the same time?

Girls' Weekend

Last weekend I got to meet up with some of my friends from college. We all did a Bible study group together when I was at Baylor and we try to meet twice a year now. We've been pretty good - in the 6-7 years (good grief that's sooo long) since I've left Baylor we've met twice a year every year but one. It's always a great weekend. They're such fun girls and we always have some great laughs as well as some really good conversation. I love these girls and am so blessed by their friendship! I wish we were all closer together so we could see each other more often but I'm so glad for the times we get to see each other!

Thomas the Tank Engine

A couple weeks ago we went camping and went to a Day Out with Thomas. Max has always liked playing with his Thomas trains and has gone through phases of Thomas being his favorite thing to watch (between periods of Diego and Cars). So we found out that there's a full-size Thomas engine that goes around to different places and pulls a train you can ride. It was going to be near Fredericksburg and we'd been wanting to camp in that area. We camped at Pedernales Falls. Of course with the drought there wasn't much to the "falls" but it was a nice campground and the weather was pretty good. On Saturday we went to Fredericksburg and stopped at the Lyndon B. Johnson ranch on the way. Max had a good time camping. He was excited about going and "hooking up the trailer to Mommy's car".  He's ready to go again!

Thomas day was Sunday. Max really liked seeing Thomas coming down the track pulling the train. It's so fun to see things like that through his eyes. We took pictures in front of Thomas, tried to take pictures with Sir Topham Hatt (but Max didn't like him too much), watched some Thomas videos, played in the train bounce house (which was one of Max's favorite parts), and of course rode the train. Max loved getting on the train, giving the conductor his tickets and looking out the window.

It was a fun weekend. Good to get away and so fun to have Max see Thomas!
